In April 2018, Margaret, now aged 76 was out gently digging in the garden as she did with delight so many times. But a couple of days later she had a pain in her groin and buttock.
Margaret went to her GP who identified it was her hip. After some physio and a non-effective steroid injection, Margaret was then put on a waiting list for a hip replacement on the NHS.
But Margaret was in extreme pain and couldn’t wait. She had pain in her groin and buttock which would keep her awake at night. She had to lie on her right-hand side to relieve the pressure and getting out of bed was particularly tiring. It was more difficult to look after her grandchildren and she could no longer go to her social activities and clubs. She had to resort to using a walking stick to get around.
Her son suggested contacting Spire Thames Valley Hospital in Wexham and go privately, paying for her own treatment. Margaret decided to do exactly that and after recommendation decided on Mr Vedi. One of Margaret’s friends also went online and researched Mr Vedi confirming her choice – the conclusion being: he was very experienced, had been in practice a long time and had a very nice bedside manner.
Margaret saw Mr Vedi in early April 2019 and she decided to have her total hip replacement surgery in late May staying in for four nights over the bank holiday weekend. Margaret said, “ I was the only patient in over the bank holiday and Mr Vedi still came in to see me. I had an excellent experience – Mr Vedi could not have been more supportive.”
Margaret did not have much pain after surgery and she was able to use the high risers at home straight away. Margaret was initially on crutches for a few days and then down to the one crutch within two weeks.
After four to six weeks, Margaret was back to normal activities. She said, “ I now feel brilliant having finally recovered and am completely free from pain.”
Margaret concludes, “Mr Vedi is a perfect gentleman and I couldn’t have received better treatment. Mr Vedi could not have been more kind. He became like a friend and there was so much trust. I would recommend Mr Vedi to anybody and everybody. He did a fantastic job and is a lovely, lovely man.”
