  • Both hips are now really good, pain-free, and checks over this past year have shown how well they are doing. I am 76 years old (going on 69!) and walk a mile or so nearly every day. On three days a week, I am able to spend the afternoons on my feet volunteering in the local hospice charity shops. Mr Vedi and his team were marvellous. Thank-you Mr Vedi!

  • Surgery: Total Hip Replacement

Mr Vedi gave me a THR three years ago. For several years before that I had been suffering increasing pain, so finally I took the plunge. From my first consultation with Mr Vedi I felt confident in him and the outcome of the operation fully justified my first impression. I had no post-op pain at all, and by sticking closely to the rehab exercises I was walking easily without crutches in 3 to 4 weeks and driving again soon after. I have nothing but praise for his skill and efficiency.

Mr Vedi has transformed my life. I’m so much more confident driving on my own and I am even able to drive to see my brother who lives 90 miles away. I feel I’m 16 again – I can’t stop laughing and feel incredibly happy. I’m able to go out with my friends, go shopping, go to parties and go on holiday now. Thank you, Mr Vedi.

  • Surgery: Knee arthroscopy

After Consulting you regarding significant knee pain I had been experiencing, you discovered damage to the meniscus. You carried out an operation to resolve the issue in December last year (2018) and due to your expertise, excellent care and advice, I was fully mobile in no time at all. I am extremely grateful for the extraordinarily high level of all-round care that I received.

Just a quick note of further thanks for supporting my recovery from the broken pelvis. Last week I completed a 20km organised walk through London without any issues (tiredness aside) and I am now signed up for further walks through Spring and Summer 2019 with hopefully a 50km walk later this year.

  • Surgery: Total Hip Replacement

Thank you for performing my successful hip replacement in July 2018. The surgery has transformed my life. I am a very active 69-year-old with lots of volunteering and child care commitments. Before surgery I was really struggling to get up the steps in the tube stations and to chase after my grandchildren. Walking in the Chilterns, something my husband and I both enjoy had become impossible. Six months on from surgery, I am dashing about everywhere, walking miles and even dancing. I would recommend Mr Vedi and the surgery to anyone.

  • Surgery: Total Hip Replacement (BWD)

After 10 years of constant pain which had been suggested wa s an aligament problem, a new doctor at my GP surgery felt my problem was likely to be my hip. I met with Mr Vedi, who, after a thorough examination and x-rays confirmed that I needed a full right hip replacement. Under the care of he excellent staff and Mr Vedi who have me great confidence, I am, six weeks later, free of pain and looking forward to a more active life once again. I can highly recommend Mr Vedi and his team for their professionalism and empathy in the care of their patients.

  • I would just like to take this opportunity to say how overwhelmed I am by having the NSTRIDE Injection. It has enabled me to basically get my life back. Two days after the treatment I was walking through Hyde Park with my daughter on a photo shoot she wanted to do, the knee felt strong again to walk from Mayfair to Marble Arch and back again, something I would never consider in the past four years. I now look forward to the art galleries I want to visit, spend time with my daughter and son to eat out in London. I have my life back and it is all down to the NSTRIDE injection I chose to have, and to do the same to my right knee due to be done in the new year.

A massive thank you to Mr. Vedi and his team for making my life livable again.

  • I would just like to thank you for what you have done for me and my knee.

You have given me back a life.

I walked in Hyde park on Saturday with my daughter and she took pictures for her project.

I would never wanted to do this up until last Thursday as my knees were so bad.

But you have given me back the strength to do what I long to do.

    Thank you so much.

Pain is a distant memory I'm trying to forget !

I have joined a gym and go swimming twice a week (NO breast stroke!). This is the "new me".

Thank you for everything you have done for me, I was in such a bad place with my knees and I owe you such a lot. I'm so grateful that you sorted them both out!

  • After consulting you regarding my hip problems and a steroid injection had not helped, you performed a total left hip replacement in March of this year.

Some six months later, I felt I must write to thank you, the hospital staff, nurses, physios and your secretary for the prompt, kind and helpful attention I received. The operation and my three-night stay at Bishopswood Hospital was an excellent experience (and interesting, if hard work!). I hope you don't mind but, should any of my friends or acquaintances start complaining about their hips, I will unhesitatingly suggest they get in touch with you.

I am back to the hobbies I had become unable to do - walking, sailing, gardening Many thanks again, Mr. Vedi.

My overall experience was of total satisfaction, starting from the arrival right through to the aftercare/physio etc. I have now been fully discharged from Dr Vedi's care, and I'm well on the way to making a full recovery and now look forward to leading a more active life once again. I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to all involved in my stay at Bishops Wood.

To date I have not suffered any post-operative pain nor did I use any painkillers whatsoever.

I can only attribute this situation to your knowledge and expertise in the matter for which I am most grateful to you.

  • I have recently had both of my hips replaced by Mr. Vedi. Before the operations I was in severe pain, not very mobile, unable to drive and couldn't work in my garden.

The operations were both done with epidural and slight sedation, afterwards the pain from the hips had gone, it was incredible. It's six months since my last operation and my quality of life has been transformed, I'm driving, gardening and have taken up Pilates.

I thank Mr. Vedi and the wonderful staff at Bishops Wood, including my physiotherapist Sunita Grieco for her support and encouragement.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for the first class treatment I received at Bishops Wood Hospital in both April 2016 and more recently January 2017.

  • Dear Mr. Vedi

These are a few lines to thank you for your excellent work on my replacement hip. For me such surgery was a voyage into the unknown but I was extremely encouraged by my several friends beforehand for whom you carried out this operation and everyone recommended your work and subsequent treatment very highly.

As you said at our first meeting, the operation would change my lifestyle and it did.

Thank you again for your help and advice.

  • Mr. Vedi operated on my right knee, providing a state of the art new knee joint. I have been delighted with every aspect of the surgery and post operative care. I now have excellent movement and range in the new knee, and this surgery enabled me to travel to Australia a couple of months later. Mr. Vedi also recommended an arthroscope for my left knee, and after the procedure this has further improved mobility in my left knee joint.

I would highly recommend Mr. Vedi's surgical excellence to anyone considering knee surgery.

  • I am a 61 year old lady who likes to stay fairly fit, by walking, sailing and going to a gym once a week.

During 2009 I developed bursitis in my right hip.  The bursitis pain was like a hot spot ache in the joint and was particularly bad at night, meaning that sleep was difficult.  I usually slept on my right side and had to learn to sleep on my left side with a hot water bottle balanced on my right hip The first course of action was anti inflammatory drugs (600mgs twice a day) which gave me only temporary relief and I was concerned about what they were doing to my stomach.

The second course of action was to have a cortisone injection into the bursa.  This provided a short term relief of a few weeks each time and during 6 months I had 3 injections, the last one under a type of x-ray. Too many injections, I now realise, in too short a time.

Eventually, I heard through an NHS Consultant about Mr. Vedi's blood plasma regeneration treatment.  I was told that it was in its experimental stage in this country.  However, I researched the technique on the internet and found that it has become popular in America, especially with athletes.  As the technique involves using the patient’s own blood and not a steroid, I was keen to try it.  I had some money saved and after a year of pain, I decided to pay to have the treatment done privately as I just couldn’t wait any longer.

Mr. Vedi performed the procedure under sedation on 25th March 2010 and I have been pain free ever since.  I can’t quite believe it and have delayed writing this, in case it wore off.  Even if it does wear off, this will be the longest that I have been pain free for over a year and I would certainly repeat the procedure since the side effects are nil.

  • I had it done by Mr. Vedi and haven't looked back since. All of the pain has gone and I'm back to running as if there had never been a problem....when just a couple of months ago it hurt to even walk.

Like the other posts, I wanted to avoid surgery and hence felt a bit strange going to hospital, but that was to get the injection guided in by ultrasound to make sure it went in the best place (apparently).

He's based near Rickmansworth (Bishops Wood hospital) and I thoroughly recommend him.

From the time of our first meeting Mr. Vedi explained everything clearly and carefully and he always had plenty of time for my queries. I felt very reassured. He did a wonderful job with my new hip and I was home in 3 days and walking unaided in 2 weeks. It is a year now since my operation and I have had no problems at all. I cannot thank Mr. Vedi enough for what he did for me and I would also like to thank the staff at Bishops Wood who were so helpful and caring.

  • Interestingly, these apparent hip pains were successfully diagnosed by Vikas Vedi in 2013 by means of an isotope scan as acute spinal problems and treated by Shaun Ridgeway by nerve root injections into L3 & L4 right in May 2013 with excellent results up to now.

This might be a useful snippet of information, as I had been struggling on the tennis court with my right hip for 13 years but now I am cured. So here is to you, Vik & Shaun, some good news and very best wishes for continues success & happiness in 2015 and beyond !

  • I had a total hip replacement carried out by Mr. Vedi at Mount Vernon Hospital in December 2014, and can honestly say the results have changed my life completely. Before the operation I was in almost constant pain, waking several times each night, unable to walk more than 100 yards without severe pain, and having to really take my time before I bent down to pick something up from the floor. Now, after only two months I am able to enjoy walking the dog, generally sleep through the night without waking, and am able to swim 12 lengths at my local pool without pain. Marvellous!

I would also like to praise the care and kindness I received from everyone during my stay. Without fail everybody I came in contact with, from the surgical team to the porter who wheeled my bed, and of course the nurses and physiotherapists, treated me with such consideration it is hard to know how they could have been better. Thank you Mr. Vedi!

"After years of increasing pain and decreasing mobility from the arthritis in my hip, I found it difficult to imagine that it could ever be better. Mr. Vedi explained to me that a hip replacement would make a significant difference and was very reassuring about the procedure and the long-term prognosis. The operation itself was quick and effective, and my recovery very speedy. I was able to walk only a few hours after the operation and the pain had disappeared. Very soon after returning home I was walking normally again, and managing longer and longer distances. Mr. Vedi was kind and informative throughout the whole process and made me feel that there was nothing to worry about. I now find it hard to remember what my hip felt like before the operation, and am looking forward to a much more active future."

  • 'I am a Russian female aged 72. In May 2010 I started to feel an intense pain in my hip. Since then the pain increased and I found it more and more difficult to walk regardless of hundreds of injections and tablets of pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs that I have taken. I had a diagnose of the hip joint degradation in the 3rd stage. The conservative treatment would not help and the hip joint was recommended. I was greatly disturbed by the prospect of the operation. Eventually I got accustomed to the necessity of the surgery but I felt great fear of it. In Russia, such operations are done since only a few years ago and the success statistics is not encouraging. Happily I had an opportunity to have a hip replacement done in the UK. After consultations with a few surgeons and some internet research I chose Mr. Vikas Vedi to replace my hip. I do not regret my choice. On the 16th of August 2011 this talented gentleman so brilliantly performed the hip replacement surgery in just 45 minutes that I now feel the joy of the second lease of life. I was lucky to be operated by a Master of his profession. Dr Fernandes the anaesthesiologist did his part excellently as well. I am endlessly grateful to the outstanding specialist who helped me in my very difficult condition.

I broke my ankle 3 times in a very short space of time, as I was too keen to get back to sporting interests, and eventually you pinned it back together!!

I feared that I wouldn't be able to keep up the running and sporting interests, but you reassured me that your skills would keep me going for a few more years.

Well, you were right and I have just run the London Marathon 2011 (for cancer research) and completed it in a good time of 4hrs 32mins. I didnt experience any ankle or knees problems so your efforts defiantly worked!

I am now deciding what my next challange is, and although it would be nice to see you again, I hope that I don't!!

Like the other posts, I wanted to avoid surgery and hence felt a bit strange going to hospital, but that was to get the injection guided in by ultrasound to make sure it went in the best place (apparently).

He's based near Rickmansworth (Bishops Wood hospital) and I thoroughly recommend him
